HD Data Recovery

I have a Seagate 250GB Hard disk which stopped working a while back and I need some data recovered from it. The guy in Hafeez centre at Gillani Computers was demanding Rs 5000 for this which is simply a outrageous price. Any knows how to get it done from someone cheaper or any other suitable alternative or DIY?

I don't know about the Hafeez Center but usually when HDDs blow out; its the board that really burns up. You can try to find another board of the same model and can replace/get it replaced to get the data out of the hard drive. I remember a person doing that a few years ago, what he did was that he purchased another used board of the same hard drive, replaced it, got his data back and sold the hard drive back to the person whom he bought the board from. That was somewhat cheap and costed around 1k at that time.

Do you mean like the hard-disk is not being detected at all in bois...?
If yes...board replacement is your best option....as the current board has fried..(any chance dis happened coz of load-shedding.....?)

Dunno if galaxy computer ppl do this kind of reparin or not....why not ask them...they usually ask for moderate prices...
