My question is how long ptcl give free bandwidth to there users?
for a year?

this is it.. prices are not gonna reduce anymore... only the speeds are gonna increase... pretty soon 512k will be obsolete... i am sure after a year 5mb connections for home users are coming and ldn would introduce it maybe... they are giving it in the middle east so it is a matter of time it comes here... then in a couple of years hopefully 8 mb connections would be coming which are the real deal for me
What my guess is that PTCL don't care for its customers. They love to loot their customers. The provided unlimited connections only to kick LDN ass. If by chance LDN is not able to survive and closes its business. I'm pretty sure PTCL will be back on its old packages.
You must also recall what PTCL did with WorldCall wireless. They started offering V Phone without monthly line rents and much cheaper calls. And when that put worldcall in the back foot, they re-introduced it .
I just wanted LDN to grow in business and would like other players in this market. PTCL's monopoly is the worst thing for us.
LDN bhaagta nahine hai bhaee ... who koi buchi company naien hia ... osnein PTCL ko hilaa dainaa hai ... PTCL is just a Developed Company in Pakistan, LDN is Developing & it surely has done awsome job to make other companies lower their rates & stuff ... dont worry, LDN wont go anywhere.

I agree, they are looting most of the us who got new connections, giving 512k on the price of 1mb.
To be fair, i will say ptcl is great, best service ive had so far in Pakistan as far as uptime and speeds etc. But, with that in mind, they have as bad a customer service and tech support as Wc does, and i mean that in all honesty. They are ****ing morons, when you do get a prob (which thank God has been very very minimal for me) they take a looong time to fix it and more than often know less than the customer as to how to come to a solution imho
Since theres like 1000 threads on ptcl issues/questions (which will be cleand up later) Ill answer here about my 2mb situation as ive been asked a few times around the forums.
I got the text about 15-20 days back that my connect has been uppd to 2mb, and when i call 1236 the machines do show that its at 2, but they tell me that some "ports" have to be opened so that the full speed comes and that I had to call the new, wait 50 mins before they answer the phone, "18" official ptcl tech support line to get this fixed. After about 3 days of calling, yes three days, FINALLY they picked up and have told me itll be done by thursday of this week, which i dont believe. Well see, ill keep u guys updated. Id say rather than looting, though it deff seems that way, they took on a larger upgrade of packages than they could chew, and once the price drop occurd they had a overwhelming amount of new subscribers and are now feeling the rath of massive customer demand that they just cant keep up with.

25+ kpbs in 256kbps package as,my package hasnt been upgraded too..
Tried calling them on 18 as they have..but noone picks up.

man ppl like you are the reason i am not switching to ptcl.. i am on multinet 1mb and get 107 constant download and 90 constant upload... but the problem is the price it is worth 4000 ... and i have compared the pings with the ptcl users and multinet has as good pings as ptcl it not better(maybe a little better)... but the prices are tempting by ptcl.. i could get a hec discount(my bro. in lums) and a 2mb connection in 3500 but the amount of problems you guyz are getting is just making me afraid to take that risk... the multinet dealer is also a friend of my brother in law so i get extra service ...

si just just wait 2-3 months and watch out both PTCL and LINKdotNET picture will be clr of both companies in 2-3 months till that time i think you should keep using Multinet
